Texture, Oasis and Walnut – Design Trends 2015

By Stephanie Miller, Marketing Coordinator

When it comes to choosing interior selections, our home owners look to our team of expert Designers for guidance and suggestions. From a traditional customer, to an avid Pinterest pinner, it’s up to our Design team to help achieve the home owner’s vision.  So to keep our Design Team on their toes, each year we ask them to predict what trends they expect to see throughout the next year. Here is a look at what they predict for 2015.

Old Meets New

Walnut

Our Kitchen Designer, Ryan Christensen, is always thinking of new and exciting cabinetry layouts and combinations. He often showcases these ideas in our showhomes, which home owners then tend to replicate in their own homes.  So what does Ryan expect for 2015? “The kitchen should and can adopt this pattern of dualities, and my goal in 2015 is to provide a space in the home that could realistically render the past and future as one, eliminating any present trends and seeking the timeless fusion of walnuts and white, of prefabricated high gloss and organic grain. The new Huxley showhome in Auburn Bay will be my first test.” This is a test that I’m confident will lead to a whole new set of request from our homeowners!

Invest in an Oasis

Our Design Consultant, Amy Marchand, thinks that 2015 will be the year of the bathroom. More and more we will start to see homeowners investing in their ensuite with the goal of creating their own little oasis. “The tub is no longer going to be the dust collector people feel is mandatory to have but pretend doesn’t exist. I foresee this becoming a focal point, something to look at in awe every morning when you start your day and every night when you go to bed. They have a bold presence that inspires the style of the room.”

Subtle Texture

Hexagon

Shapes will be playing a huge role in 2015 especially when it comes to tile, says our Design Consultant, Jessica Quast.  “The popular tile pattern of 2015 will be the hexagon in marble or tone on tone ceramic style. With a matching grout, it is a nice way to add a little bit of interest to a kitchen. This would also be a great tile for bathroom and shower floors.” We’ve already stocked our Design Center with a few geometric tile options for home owners looking to introduce a little more texture into their space!

Although trends tend to be fleeting, these are all excellent options that can be timeless in your home. We look forward to seeing how our Design Teams predictions pan out for 2015!

Have a good weekend,
