Dust off your cowboy boots because Stampede season is officially here! Our city is about to fill with a mix of locals and tourists, all looking to partake in the Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth. We’ve seeing plenty of news on the events happening at the Stampede, the exciting food that’ll test even the bravest of pallets and of course the Stampede parties that will be going on throughout the city. With so many people out and about in Calgary, we think it’s important to also have a look at how to ‘giddy up’ and travel safely during this year’s 103rd celebration.
The most hassle-free way to get to the Stampede is by taking the C-Train, which will be offering 24 hour services during the 10 day event! This round the clock service will be starting from the evening on July 2, 2015, up until the morning on July 13, 2015. The C-Train is also more cost-effective than usual, thanks to special ‘Stampede’ pricing for a day pass. An adult day pass will be $6.50 and a youth day pass will go for $4.50. Day passes can be purchased through ticket vending machines that are located at the C-Train stations. A day pass is valid up until 4 a.m. the following morning. There are two C-Train stations to choose from that connect to the Stampede grounds. Victoria Park / Stampede Station is located at the north end near the BMO Round-Up Centre, and Erlton / Stampede Station is found at the south end near the Indian Village. With trains leaving frequently, this is a great way to get to and from the Stampede. For those of you in our South East communities of Auburn Bay, New Brighton, Cranston and Walden, you could also drive to one of the Park and Rides, such as Shawnessy Station, to avoid having to find parking in downtown Calgary. Although it may be a bit more expensive, taxis are also a great way to get home after an exciting day of Stampeding. There are two designated areas right outside Stampede Park where taxis will be lined up to wait for customers. These two stands will be located at the South and North entrances of Stampede Park.
We hope that everyone enjoys Stampede while also remembering to stay safe and rely on the different modes of transportation that will be available.
Have a great weekend,
