Fall has officially started and with that comes plenty of fun ideas for decorating your home! With Halloween fast approaching I thought what better theme to focus on than decorating pumpkins. Now, for those who don’t know, I love decorating for any type of holiday. Growing up, it was a yearly tradition for everyone in my family to decorate their own pumpkin. I have kept that tradition going, but this year I wanted to try something different. I want to take the traditional pumpkin and giving it a modern makeover. You may have seen our recent pins on our Cedarglen Pinterest account and that is what inspired this week’s blog.
Looking through all the ideas that Pinterest offers, I have narrowed it down to three suggestions;
The one that I will definitely be trying this year is the chevron pumpkin. The chevron pattern is a big trend this season and it really gives the look of a modern pumpkin. Another benefit to trying this style of pumpkin is that you don’t have to clean out the pumpkin. All you have to do is trace out your pattern on the pumpkin in pencil, than outline the pattern with tape so that once you’re finished you have a nice clean edge. Add your paint color of choice and voila you have a decorated pumpkin!
As we are in the building industry, I feel like the next idea is very appropriate. By using a power drill, you can create a design in your pumpkin that looks clean and modern. For this idea you first clean out your pumpkin and then with the help of a power drill, you can make a circle pattern in the pumpkin that lights up beautifully.
This last suggestion is also an easy way to decorate your door step for Halloween. By simply writing out your address on small pumpkins, then stacking them or leaving them side by side, you can have an entrance ready for any trick-or-treaters. This is also a clean and easy idea as all you need are pumpkins and black paint!
All these ideas can be found on our Cedarglen Pinterest page under Seasonal decorating. Let us know how you decided to decorate for the fall season!
Enjoy your weekend,
