With all the changes going on at the office, I haven’t had a moment to interview someone for our monthly introduction blog. Now that things have settled down, I took some time to sit down with Pretum Narang, the head of our new Customer Relations department.
Pretum started working at Cedarglen back in 2006. He started out in the Liaison department, working as a Customer Liaison for four years before making a move to the field. Here, Pretum learned just about everything there is to know from construction start to the day the customer takes possession. Pretum began with the Paint Team, then moving on to Stage One and then working on scheduling in Stage Two, staying a few months in each area. His last stop was Stage Three, where he stayed for six months. Once again Pretum changed directions, coming back to the office as a Customer Liaison. Shortly after this change though, he moved on to Estimating for a year. And now, as of January 2013, Pretum works as the Customer Relations Supervisor. If we ever need someone to fill in around the office, I know who to call!
Backing all of this experience is many courses! Pretum obtained a Business Diploma from the University College of the Cariboo (Now Thompson Rivers University) in Kamloops, BC. To add to this, Pretum has completed course for Moisture Control, Building Codes, Construction Fundamentals, Building Solutions, and most recently Blue Print Reading (which he ended the course with an overall 98%).
I was interested to know how the new department was working. Customer Liaisons broke into two new groups back in January 2013; Customer Relations Representatives work directly with the customers through to their home possession. The other new area is the Customer Response Team, that deals with resolving issues (construction or otherwise) as well as dealing with home warranties. Pretum explained the new process changes have been great; there have been big improvements on administration times leading up to construction start. For our customers, this means we get your home started sooner! Our Customer Relations Representatives are also having more fun with their jobs, as they now attend more meetings with their customers. This is great news as we are only two months into this new process.
Now that we have covered all the important details about our wonderful Customer Relations Supervisor, it’s time to find out some fun facts about Pretum:
Favorite Showhome: The Huxley in Cranston, because it has such an open kitchen and great room (Check it out at 210 Cranston Gate SE)
Favorite Hobby: Playing the game Frustration with my kids and beating them (they are 6 and 4 years old).
Favorite Sport: Basketball, running, and dodgeball. There is even a Cedarglen Homes dodgeball team starting up.
Best Place in Calgary: The Saddledome…only when the Flames are winning
Favorite Part about working at Cedarglen: It’s a tie between a few things: the Christmas Parties, the gym, and the people! The Christmas party every year is a great way for the whole office to relax for a weekend and enjoy themselves together. The gym because it’s a great way to start the day (Pretum goes in every morning at 5 a.m.) and encourages people to spend time together outside the office. And last and most important is the people at Cedarglen. They’re fun to work with and everyone works off the energy of each other.
